Assam bikers show how to have fun & ride safe, at the same time

Guwahati: In a bid to promote road safety among college students of Guwahati, Set Wet — Marico’s male grooming and styling master brand — for the second time organised a biking campaign ‘#SetWetGo’ at University of Science & Technology Meghalaya(USTM) in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district on Saturday.

The campaign started with a bike rally by Assam Bikers — a popular group of bikers — from within the city up to the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).

With its second episode taking place, Mayur Mahanta, founder of Assam Bikers, told EastMojo how the event was a platform for him to promote safe driving in colleges. “With this event, we are able to reach out to all the college students who are the future and spread the message of safe riding to all the college students,” he said.

The event saw a lot of excitement among the college students who were engaged in fun activities based on hair styling and biking, which in a way was to encourage how road safety should be taken up seriously and wearing a helmet is a need for every rider on the road.

Earlier, the first episode of the same event was held in Gauhati University with the motive to promote safe riding.

Another member of Assam Bikers also shared about how the recently amended Motor Vehicles Act was a wise step on the side of the government for every two- and four-wheeler owners to follow road rules seriously by imposing hefty challans.

Assam Bikers was formed in 2012 with the sole purpose of promoting road safety for bikers in the region. With the motto, ‘Ride Safe, Ride United’, the group reaffirmed its mission at the event on August 30 with riders taking part in fun activities with biking and safety gear in place.
