Kohima: With the revamp of Hornbill Music Festival, the mega celebration is all set to become “grander and bigger” this winter.
Taking to Twitter, chief minister Neiphiu Rio wrote: “Happy to know that @RedFMIndia will be the radio partner for #HornbillMusicFestival2019…I am optimistic that this year’s edition of #HornbillFestival – the #FestivalOfFestivals, will be grander and bigger with esteemed partners from across India”.
Red FM is one of India’s largest and most awarded radio networks. This is the first time that it is partnering with the Nagaland government for the Hornbill Festival.
As reported by EastMojo earlier, the Nagaland government under the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) has announced that the popular Hornbill Rock contest will be replaced by “The Great Hornbill Rock”. TaFMA adviser Theja Meru then said that the decision was made with an aim towards professionalism in music keeping in mind the current trend and to make the Hornbill Music Festival a full-fledged music festival.
The Great Hornbill Rock will feature the winners of “Ticket to Hornbill- state edition” alongside other national bands during the Hornbill Music Festival.
Meanwhile, in response to Rio’s tweet, RED FM, the official handle of Red FM 93.5 tweeted: “Thank you, sir. We are extremely happy to be associated with the #HornbillMusicFestival2019. Look forward to a grand celebration and a successful event #BajaateRaho”.
TaFMA’s partners for the “Ticket to Hornbill-Nation edition” are Hard Rock Cafe and CD Baby. At a press conference in August, Meru has said that TaFMA is closing deals with Gibson India, Rolling Stone India and Hard Rock Café for the music festival.
Known as the “festival of festivals”, the Hornbill festival is held every year from December 1-10 attracting a huge number of tourists — international and domestic — into the state.
