Kokrajhar: Intensifying search operations against militant outfit organisations active in the region, security forces apprehended a linkman of the banned National Democratic Front of Boroland-Saoraigwra faction (NDFB-S) from Dwimuguri locality of Assam’s Chirang district on Sunday morning.
As per sources, a team of Assam police from Bijni locality and troops from Garwhal regiment of the Indian Army along with CRPF personnel based on specific inputs conducted a joint search operation and raided the house of arrested the NDFB(S) linkman, identified as Raju Brahma, from Dwimuguri village under Panbari police outpost of the district.
Besides arresting Brahma, the joint team of security forces also conducted a raid at his residence and successfully recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including one country made SBBL gun, 10 live rounds of 7.62 mm bullets, one hand grenade and some objectionable documents that were buried at his residential complex.
Significantly, the joint team of forces conducted the raid following confessions made by Sunilal Boro about arms and ammunition being secretly kept at Brahma’s residence. Sunilal was recently arrested by cops from Bilashipara locality in Dhubri district with arms and ammunition following which security forces carried out a search operation led by Bijni sub-divisional police officer Prakash Medhi.
Meanwhile, Brahma was working as a linkman with NDFB (S) for many years in the locality and was also arrested by forest department officials in connection to a tiger poaching case in July this year.
Sources from the state police administration informed that the department has been taking stern initiatives against militant outfits and anti-social elements operating in the region.
