Mary Kom has dominated the medal tally of the world boxing meet with six gold medals and a silver medal since 2001

Guwahati: The pride of Indian boxing, Mary Kom, defeated Ingrit Valencia of Colombia to enter the semi-finals (51kg category) of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2019 being played in Ulan Ude of Russia on Thursday.

Following this, the ace boxer also ensured a medal win, making her the only boxer (male or female) to win eight medals in the world boxing championships.

The 36-year-old boxer from Manipur defeated Rio Olympics bronze medalist Ingrit Valencia with a score of 5-0 in the quarter-finals. ‘Magnificent Mary’ surpassed Cuban men’s legend Felix Salvon, who had won seven medals in the world championships.
