Guwahati: Ahead of her performance at Ultra EDM Imphal, South Korean DJ Soda took part in a tree plantation programme as part of the Green Manipur Mission at Mongjam village in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Friday.
The tree plantation programme was led by state forest and environment minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar at Mongjam village under Heingang assembly constituency of Imphal East district. It was held at the area which is a part of the Heingang Reserve Forest.
This is the first time that the Korean social media star, musician and model will be performing in India during her six years of professional career. The electronic dance music festival is an initiative of the state environment and forests department and ‘Let’s Do It! India!’ campaign under the ‘Green Manipur Mission’.
DJ Soda said that she was enjoying her visit to Manipur. Appreciating the pleasant weather condition, she said that the natural environment with birds and trees is joyful to observe. DJ Soda also informed that she does not use air conditioner and focuses on minimum usage of electricity as an effort to conserve the environment.
Th Shyamkumar said that immensely talented artiste DJ Soda taking part in the tree plantation is a testament that the whole world is united for the conservation and preservation of the environment. He also appealed all the stakeholders to come forward and contribute towards saving the environment for better future of the younger generation.
During her stay in the state, the Korean it-girl says that she is also looking forward to tasting some local cuisines and sharing the experience with her fans on her social media page.
The electronic dance music festival, the first-of-its-kind in the state, will also feature India’s sensation duo Zephyrtone, local artists like Yung Yung, Jay Sang and Shon Naga, among others.
