Assam ADGP Mukesh Agrawal has appealed all sections of society to cooperate with the police to maintain peace in Kokrajhar district and its adjoining areas

Kokrajhar: Necessary security arrangements have been made to maintain peace and tranquility during Durga Puja celebrations in Kokrajhar and its adjoining areas of Assam, said additional director general of police (ADGP) Mukesh Agrawal in Kokrajhar on Thursday.

Agrawal visited Kokrajhar and made a review on the prevailing law-and-order situation in the district. During his visit, he met senior police officers and took stock of the prevailing situation ahead of Durga Puja. He also enquired about alleged rumours relating to ‘spraymen’ and child-lifting cases which are creating chaos among residents of the region.

Agrawal visited Kachugaon police station under Kokrajhar district and participated in an awareness meeting where he met people from all walks of life. He said that there was no authenticity of such reports of rumours that created chaos among common people. He further added that police administration is totally prepared to check the unhealthy reports of incidents in the district and necessary security forces, including police, have already been deployed in the vulnerable areas.

Meanwhile, Agrawal also appealed people to cooperate and to stand against unhealthy situation whenever it arises in the district. On security arrangements for Durga Puja celebrations, Agrawal said that tight security arrangements have been made in Kokrajhar district and its adjoining areas.
