Agartala: The district and sessions court on Tuesday sent six accused in the Narsingarh gangrape case to police remand for five days, while three juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Correction Advisory Board.
Speaking with EastMojo, assistant public prosecutor (APP) Bidyut Sutradhar said that after hearing the plea of the police, the court sent six of them to police custody till October 5.
Meanwhile, the Test Identification Parade (TIP) was conducted on Monday. The victim identified four out of the six accused who were produced in the TIP. The four identified accused were Priyo Manish Ray, Pradip Das, Deepak Debnath, and Prasenjit Adhikari, the APP said.
Earlier, six accused were produced in the court on September 26; later two of them were produced again in the court on September 28. Since three of the accused are minors, they were sent to the Juvenile Correction Advisory Board.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Pradesh Mahila Congress met IG (crime) Puneet Rastogi with a five-point charter of demands in Agartala on Tuesday.
Speaking with the reporters, Sadar Mahila Congress president Debjani Laskar said that a deputation was placed with the IGP demanding the safety of women across the state.
“The women are afraid to step out of their house today and even they are not safe at their homes. The crime against women has increased over the last couple of months but the state government is yet to take any measures,” she said.
Demand for the setting up of fast track court in the state, social awareness camps, safety in the city autos, and government transportation exclusively for women were also placed by the women Congress members.
