The date of polling to the 12-member council will be held on November 5 from 7 am to 4 pm and re-polling, if required, will be held on November 7. While the last date for filing nomination papers is October 10, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 14.

The Model Code of Conduct was enforced from Tuesday in the jurisdiction of respective constituencies in SHC area and this would cover all political parties and contesting candidates, ministers, ministers of state, members of Parliament and MLAs, and all public servants engaged in the SHC election.
SHC was established on July 9, 2018, a result of the peace accord signed between the Mizoram government and the erstwhile underground Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) on April 2 the same year.
There are 31 villages within the jurisdiction of the council in Hmar-dominated north-east Mizoram adjoining Manipur. The council will have 12 elected members and two nominated members.
