Kokrajhar: With just a few months left for the fourth Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections scheduled to be held next year, a new political party has emerged in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) region of Assam recently.
Bodoland, officially the BTAD, is an autonomous region of Assam. It is made up of four districts on the north bank of Brahmaputra river. It is administered by the BTC and came into existence in February 2003.
The new political party, named Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), is being formed under the leadership of the Lok Sabha MP from Kokrajhar, Naba Kumar Sarania, with support from Sanmilito Janagostiya Mancha in facilitating to create a new political platform among the common people of the region.
The newly formed organisation has decided to support and work for the welfare and development of the common people.
Addressing a political convention at Pathsala in Assam’s Barpeta district, MP Sarania expressed that the newly floated political party is planning to work for all-round development of the region by fully stepping into the deepest services and welfare for the downtrodden peoples of the region.
“GSP party is a party of peoples to see humanity welfare and social integration in coming days,” Sarania said.
Sarania also informed that the newly formed party is planning to put its candidature in 35 seats out of the 40 members legislative council assembly in the upcoming BTC elections scheduled to be held in 2021.
“GSP will be actively participating in the BTC elections as well in the state assembly polls to be held next year,” Sarania added.
