Kokrajhar: Launching a joint operation at two different places, security forces apprehended two hardcore rebels of the Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) from lower Assam’s Kokrajhar and Udalguri districts on Monday.
As per sources, after receiving specific inputs, a joint team of Assam Police with the Commando Battalion and 12 Sikh LI Army launched a search operation early on Monday morning at Leopani Nala and Ultapani Nala areas, situated along the Indo-Bhutan area of the district.
The arrested NDFB(S) militant has been identified as 23-year-old Dipak Borgoyary alias B Dalaisa, a native of Gwjwnpuri under Runikata police station of Chirang. It is informed that Borgoyary was a 41st-batch cadre of the banned militant organisation.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered one 7.65 mm pistol and five live rounds of 7.65 mm bullets from the possession of the arrested NDFB(S) rebel.

In another joint operation, a team of Assam Police and Cobra Regiment of the Indian Army successfully nabbed one NDFB rebel from the Aathsabari area under Mazbat police station of Udalguri district early on Monday morning.

The arrested militant has been identified as Ajay Basumatary and he was a 38th batch cadre of the banned militant outfit. Security forces recovered two grenades from the possession of the arrested militant.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and police have initiated an investigation following the arrest of the hardcore rebels.
Speaking to media, a senior police officer informed that the state police administration has intensified counter-insurgency operations against militant organisations operating in the region and the department had successfully apprehended many rebels belonging to the banned outfits besides recovery of arms and ammunition from them.
Significantly, earlier on September 14, launching a search operation, a joint team of security forces nabbed two rebels belonging to the Adivasi Cobra Militant of Assam (ACMA) from Lungsung area of Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
