The Zoram Mega Food Park is an integrated project that aims to establish a direct link between the farmers and the processing units and consumer markets. The network of collection centres and primary processing centres will help to eliminate middlemen.

The Central Processing Centre (CPC) conveniently located on National Highway-54 is close to major transport hubs including Lengpui Airport and the upcoming railhead at Sairang.

While visiting the food park, Assam MP and Union minister Teli said that the Zoram Mega Food Park is aimed to uplift farmers in Mizoram, and through the various processing units, farmers can export their produce.

Teli praised the food park saying that the ministry will soon launch the project for Mizoram to gain maximum benefits from it.

The union minister added, “In the next two to three months, the ministry would organise a Road Show in Aizawl where various schemes will be highlighted so that budding entrepreneurs from Mizoram can have in depth information about food processing.”

He added, “Many entrepreneurs from the North East are unable to avail loans to start up their own enterprise. I shall be meeting with various banks officials so that loans could easily be made available to youths planning for their own start up.”

Teli praised the Mizo youths for their diligence and assured them that he is always willing to lend a helping hand to those ambitious and hard-working youths.

The core infrastructure of the Zoram Mega Food Park consists of food processing line, spice drying chamber, ripening chamber, warehouses and cold storage. The CPC is fed by three Primary Processing Centres (PPCs) at Mualbuhvum (Champhai district), Thingfal (Lunglei district) and Thenzawl (Serchhip district). These will be fed by a number of collection centres (CC) across the districts and blocks in Mizoram.

The main aim of the food park is to stimulate direct and indirect income generation in the food processing and its ancillary sectors in Mizoram. It also aims to provide platform for establishment and growth for entrepreneurs in the food processing sector in Mizoram.
