Assam: 10 per cent rise in crimes in 2021, says NCRB report

Agartala: A 37-year old woman was allegedly killled and her body dumped in front of the youth affairs and sports office in Dharmanagar of North Tripura district in Tripura on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Amrita Nath (37) of BBI School complex area. Her husband, Papan Nath, reportedly died due to cancer earlier in February this year.

Dharmanagar police have arrested her brother-in-law Pradip Nath alias Bappu, who reportedly surrendered to the police, and her nephew, Niloy Nath (22), in connection with the case.

Later, angry locals reportedly carried out an attack on Pradip Nath’s family. Upon receiving the information, North Tripura SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, additional SP Frawis Darlong, BJP’s Mahila Morcha president Rupali Adhikary and a team of Tripura State Rifles rushed to the spot for the safety of other family members of the accused.

Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly and MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen assured the locals that the needful will be done for the punishment of the culprits.
