Kohima: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio launched the first phase of the ‘common scholarship portal’ on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day at Secretariat Plaza in Kohima on Thursday.
In pursuance of the cabinet decision to provide a centralised window for all state scholarships, the department of information technology & communication came out with the ‘common scholarship portal’ in a phased manner.
The first phase shall consist of development of the website; enable one-time user registration with email verification; development of e-forms for various scholarships; enable online submission of e-forms; and generation of QR and BAR codes for verification.
The second phase shall consist of duplicity checking and alerts to concerned departments; automation for alerting applicants on status of their application via SMS/email; generation of MIS reports/rejected lists by concerned departments; development of APIs/WebService for sending automated data to ministry of minority affairs; and updation of scholarship disbursement details and alerts of applicant.
Envisaged to streamline the existing systems where various departments provide scholarships individually, it aims to develop and deploy a common scholarship portal for all beneficiaries by enabling easy maintenance and by providing centralised online single window for all state scholarships.
Divided into two phases, the Department of IT&C is developing the scholarship portal to provide technical support for making scholarship forms available online.
Currently, five services have been developed and hosted in common scholarship portal, which are as follows: department of higher education: post matric scholarship, merit scholarship, NEC scholarship and state research scholarship. Department of school education: pre- matric scholarship (Class IX and X) where these scholarships are incorporated with the present guidelines and norms issued by concerned ministries and departments.
The portal features a single widow for all state scholarships, simplified registration process for beneficiaries, custom MIS reports for individual departments, duplicity checks and alerts, common portal for publishing of all scholarship notification and advertisements, BAR and QR codes for automation of verification and easy, efficient and transparent online system.
