Salman Khan aka Sonu Credit: Facebook

Guwahati: Salman Khan, affectionately called Sonu, went missing on Monday. However, this is not the Bollywood celebrity that we are talking about, but a four-legged animal who happens to be “like a brother” to Nasim Mansuri, a sales officer with a private bank hailing from Doomdooma in Tinsukia district of Assam.

Sonu, the goat, went missing near NH-52 in Kakopathar area on Monday evening. On Tuesday, Mansuri took to Facebook and appealed everyone for any kind of information about the animal. “One of my family member for last 2 years who is like my bro [brother], my partner have lost last night from NH 52 Kakopather [sic],” adding that he will reward anyone who comes forward with information about the missing goat.

Sonu was living with Mansuri’s family since 2017. They treated him like a family member and never tied him, or bound him to a room.

The sales officer said that Sonu would often wake up early and consume breakfast only after he had taken a bath. He would eat the same food as the family did, fruits and milk being his favourite food items.

Mansuri added that ever since the goat disappeared, the family members are quite tense and have stopped eating and drinking properly. They announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for anyone who can inform about his whereabouts.

Sonu has been living with Nasim Mansuri’s family for over two years

Mansuri, however, has not lodged an FIR, but is trying to search for him in and around the locality. He also shared photos on Facebook so that it would be easier for people to identify his “brother”.

Imagining the worst-case scenario, the family even contacted the local butchers suspecting that somebody must have sold him as goats are in high demand ahead of the festival of Bakr Id/Eid ul-Adha on August 12.

Mansuri urged people through social media to help him find his lost “brother”. Sonu was brought from the local market of Arunachal Pradesh in 2017.
