Mizoram chief electoral officer Ashish Kundra called on a meeting with representatives from all political parties of the state to discuss the electoral roll revision

Aizawl: Mizoram chief electoral officer (CEO) Ashish Kundra has appealed the political parties, members of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to cooperate and assist his officials and the election department for a successful revision of electoral rolls in the state.

Highlighting the importance of electoral roll revision during a meeting with representatives from all political parties on Thursday, Kundra said, “This is the time when the new voters who attain 18 years of age must be added. Deletion and changes of voters and their details must be made so that we have an up-to-date electoral roll.”

The pre-revision activities of electoral roll commenced from Friday with an electors’ verification programme — a voter can self-verify his/her details through the Voter Helpline mobile app, NVSP portal, Common Service Centre or submit a hard copy of filled-up forms through Block Level Officers (BLOs) to Electronic Return Originators (EROs).

House-to-house verification will be carried out between September 1 and 30 this year, by the BLOs where information/details of un-enrolled/dead/shifted electors will be collected. Publication of integrated draft electoral roll is expected to be done on October 15. The final publication of electoral roll will be carried out from January 1 to 15 of 2020, as decided by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
