Imphal: Meet Chanchui Khayi, the young beauty queen from Manipur’s Ukhrul district, who was recently crowned the first runner-up at the grand finale of Miss Northeast India 2019 beauty pageant held in Guwahati, Assam recently.
Of the 44 contestants vying for the title from across the region, the 18-year-old girl from the Tangkhul community was also adjudged the ‘Most Glamorous Look’ subtitle at the grand finale of the beauty pageant.
Held at ITA Machakhowa in Guwahati, the young beauty hailing from Teinem village narrowly missed out the top honours and, finally, the title to Assam’s Dulumani Brahma as Miss Northeast India 2019.
“I feel great and it’s a great honour to represent my community, and my state Manipur at the pageant,” said Chanchui, the gleaming newly crowned Miss Northeast India runner-up.
Completing her Class XII from St Francis de Sales School, Guwahati in Arts stream, Chanchui is now waiting to get an admission at one of the Delhi University colleges.
With her determination and passion to serve the common people, Chanchui hopes to become a social influencer one day and represent the community in the global platform.

Apart from what she loves to do — singing and dancing — Chanchui is purely focusing on her further studies and aims to keep on striving further to meet her life goals. “I always wanted to be a social influencer and I am a person with big ambition. I keep my hopes high so that I can keep on growing myself to achieve my goals in life,” she said.
Incidentally, the young girl from Manipur not only represented her home state by showcasing her artistic skills, she also designed her costumes for the traditional attire round.
During the grand finale, Mrigashree Baruah and Sandra Hazarika, both from Assam, shared the 2nd runners-up title, wherein Upasana Hazarika of Assam was conferred with the ‘brand ambassador’ title.
