Agartala: The Agartala Public School on Sunday organised a felicitation programme at Agartala Press Club where 53 students achieved medals in four different categories after participating in general knowledge, science and mathematics examinations conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation.
In total, 81 students of Agartala Public School along with Dr BR Ambedkar HS School, Old Agartala HS School and West Champamura HS School participated in the examination.
Notably, 13 students won distinction medals, 16 won gold, 11 won silver and 13 won bronze medals.
MP Pratima Bhoumik inaugurated the felicitation programme on Sunday evening in the presence of MLA Ratan Chakraborty, state coordinator of SOF Nirmalendu Acharjee and school’s secretary Arun Nath along with teachers, students and guardians at the premises of Agartala Press Club.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Bhoumik said: “In spite of various difficulties for registration and other issues, Agartala Public School participated in the Science Olympiad Foundation examination where the students of the school participated and acquired medals in four categories. This is highly appreciable and commendable.”
Bhoumik also appreciated the teachers for guiding the students to come out and take these examinations as well as acquire medals.
Congratulating the students for winning medals, Bhoumik told the students to appear in such kind of examinations in the coming days which will help all to build a better generation for the future. “Those students who are facing these examinations now, they will not feel any fear for the joint entrance kind of exams in their coming days and this will help to produce IAS and IPS officers for service in the entire country,” she added.
Speaking at the programme, MLA Chakraborty laid emphasis on the significance of life to move along with the advancement of technology in the present day as competitions are there in every walks of life and all those need to overcome. “The Modi-led government has opened new horizons for acquiring a distinct position in his or her life as the process of getting jobs with influential persons recommendations are now over. Students have to prepare themselves from all sides to achieve the desired goal in their life,” he added.
With the target of making ‘Ek Tripura Sreshta Tripura’, SOF state coordinator Acharjee said that quality education is an integral part of achieving this dream as well as making Tripura a model state. “Olympiad has its great significance and it is working silently to flourish in terms of quality education. It also focuses on academic qualifications and performances,” Acharjee added.
