Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway apprehended seven criminals and rescued at least 12 minors from different railway stations last week (June 24 to 30) in the region, said reports.
As per a statement by railway officials, the accused were involved in various crimes against passengers. The rescued minors, including girls, were lured by anti-social elements from different railway stations of the region, said the statement.
In one of the cases on June 27, the CPDS (Crime Prevention & Detection Squad team) of the RPF apprehended five miscreants involved in theft of passenger belongings by administering sedative drugs, during a routine check at Katihar railway station in Bihar. The security forces seized sedative tablets, cash worth Rs 2,000 and one stolen mobile phone from the possession of the accused.

In a similar incident on June 30, the railway police while conductive a drive against anti-social activities nabbed one person involved in theft of passenger belongings at Guwahati railway station. The railway police recovered one bag, three wallets, one mobile phone, two PAN cards, one Voter ID, one SBI ID card, one ATM card and cash worth Rs 5,070 from the possession of the arrested man.
In another such incident on June 30, a railway police team of Mariyani station during a routine check apprehended one person in possession of two stolen mobile phones from passengers.
The railway police later handed over the arrested persons along with recovered articles to the Government Railway Police for further course of action.
