Aizawl: People’s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) on Monday vehemently slammed Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga for allegedly attempting to donate a public land to a private entity and sought an apology from him.

A statement issued by the anti-corruption watchdog turned political party said that Zoramthanga has recommended an individual to own a plot of land belonging to the state government.

According to PRISM, Peter Kapgranga, who claims to have rented a house in south Mizoram’s Lunglei Venglai, has written to the chief minister, seeking a plot of land at Government Primary School site, for construction of a dwelling house.

The letter was forwarded to the CM through Lunglei district high-powered committee vice chairman Lawmawma, the statement said.

The party alleged that Zoramthanga has put his seal and signature on the letter with green ink stating “recommended for favour of special consideration” and was referred to assistant section officer-I of Lunglei for necessary action.

Alleging breach of law on the part of the CM, PRISM asked Zoramthanga to immediately halt his initiative of handing over a public land to an individual.

The party also asked the CM to apologise to the people for his illegal act.
