Darjeeling: A man working in a United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based company was on Tuesday reunited with his family members in his native Darjeeling district of West Bengal after he went “missing” for over a week, thanks to the intervention of newly-elected Darjeeling MP Raju Bista.
The man, Prabin Dhakal, had lost all contact with his family members after he fell ill and was admitted to a hospital in Abu Dhabi.
As per reports, upon being approached by Dhakal’s family, MP Bista wrote to the Union ministry of external affairs and the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi seeking their help to locate and find any information about the ‘missing’ man.
In a quick response to his request, the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi wrote that Dhakal was admitted at the MAFARQ Hospital and was undergoing treatment since June 10.
“The management of the employer company of Prabin in UAE, Southern Food and Catering services LLC (SFC), is providing all the support for his treatment and will decide upon his employment continuation or repatriation to India based on his medical report,” wrote the embassy wrote back.
“The family is relieved to know about Prabin’s whereabouts and confirmed that they have spoken with him,” MP Bista said in a press statement.
Appreciating their efforts in locating Dhakal, MP Bista thanked the MEA’s office and the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi. “I hope he gets well soon. I also thank the Indian mission in UAE for taking such good care of Indian citizens working there,” he added.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure that the MP’s office has an easy access to everyone at all times, Bista announced a dedicated phone number and said that he will personally respond to all calls on a daily basis.
“For any MP-related work or information to be shared, I request you all to contact the office at +91 7303932706 or send a WhatsApp message any time,” he said.
