Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Saturday felicitated some of the Naga Class X board exam toppers. While 21 of the 34 toppers from Nagaland were present to receive the award, three from Manipur made it to the ceremony.

Ninoto Awomi, in his presidential address, motivated the students by saying: “Continue to work hard, think smart and be humble and submit yourself to God. Transform yourself into an indispensable asset for Naga society that you can be proud of.”

Awomi then encouraged the students to be consistent in all their works and expressed his excitement for their bright future.

Meanwhile, congratulating the students, Nagaland commissioner M Patton, who was the guest speaker, urged the need to adapt in the fast-changing world by equipping oneself with new ideas and to ‘think globally’.

Stating that “good marks and bookish knowledge are not sufficient to mould the students”, Patton urged the parents to support and “inculcate values and skills”, which will in turn mould their children to be productive in society.

Furthermore, Patton commended the apex Naga students’ body for being an “agent of change” in leading the “think tank group” of society.

The newly-elected NSF team, as reported by EastMojo earlier, has committed to prioritise students’ welfare over others. The students’ body has also demanded the setting up of a State Selection Board (SSB) within two months and the scrapping of departmental exams when it met with state chief minister Neiphiu Rio on June 12.
