Ukhrul: Residents of Hungpung village in Manipur’s Ukhrul village expressed their gratitude to minister Thongam Biswajit Singh for remaining true to his words and bringing in timely development to the area.
A press release issued by the Thawaijao Hungpung Village Authority on Thursday said that the minister of rural development & panchayati raj, who was also the former PWD minister, kept his promise of blacktopping the road between Dungrei Junction and PMKVY Training Centre, Sacred Heart Hr Secondary School at Hungpung village.
The said road, according to release, remains one of the most important link roads in Ukhrul district headquarters and was left unattended for many years, until the then PWD minister Biswajit Singh, who is also the MLA from Thongju constituency, intervened.
The authority concerned also informed that considering the importance of the road, the denizens of the village had requested the previous Okran Ibobi Singh-led Congress government for blacktopping of the said road several times, but no action was taken.
Now that the road is blacktopped, the connectivity will not only benefit the citizens of the hill district but most importantly to the thousands of the students’ who daily commuters through it.
Further, the villagers extend their best wishes to minister Biswajit and his leadership in executing developmental works in the hill district in particular and Manipur in general.
