Guwahati: The second edition of North East Foodtech 2019, a business-to-business exhibition on the food and hospitality industry, was officially inaugurated on Thursday. Organised by FoodTech India, the four-day-long event is being held at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati. It will take place till June 16.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Deepak Jalan, the president of the Hotel & Restaurants Association of Assam (HRAA); Vishwanath Goenka, director of HRAA; Rakshit Kapur, director of N K Kapur Co & Associates, and other members of the HRAA including Biswa Pradip Kalita and Anupam Bora.
The exhibition is organised and marketed by N K Kapur & Co, a Delhi-based firm in association with the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Assam.

The exhibition showcases the food processing and packaging machinery, bakery and confectionery equipment and accessories, food display counters, beverage processing equipment, commercial kitchen and refrigeration system, tableware, food industry IT products, food additives and ingredients, commercial chocolates, food packaging materials, and more. More than 90 companies from all over the India are showcasing their products at the exhibition, along with demo products.
“We have seen that there is a huge shift in the food industry in the Northeastern region as compared to the northern region, which is Delhi,” said Kapur, adding that, “If we get a good response and people are adapted to the technology, we are thinking of getting in international brands so that the food industry of the region can prosper and have more benefits from the new upcoming technologies.”
The one-of-its-kind exhibition has opened new doors to the entrepreneurs in the field of food and hospitality industry in the region providing a huge platform to explore business opportunities. At the same time, the exhibition is providing students a chance of interacting with the industry for future career benefits.
