Agartala: The Mahila Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to send 20,000 postcards to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ written on it in response to her “abusive and unruly action on BJP supporters in Bengal”.
While addressing a press conference in Agartala on Thursday evening, BJP’s national Mahila Morcha president Vijaya Rahatkar said that in the next one month, the women of the state will send postcards to the West Bengal CM protesting against her action of putting behind bars those chanting Jai Shri Ram, which has no relation with politics, in the run-up to Lok Sabha elections this year.
A total of 5 lakh cards will be sent to Banerjee, of which, 20,000 will be from the state’s women’s wing.

Further, she thanked the people of the state for electing both MPs for Lok Sabha from the BJP and believing in the party after electing the BJP-IPFT government in the state in 2018.
“The first ticket approved in the election body meeting was for Tripura and that too for a woman candidate, Pratima Bhowmik,” said Rahatkar.
“Tripura has been an example for projecting women power in the nation and by electing her the people has done justice with what the state is known to all. Maybe sooner the government would also think of having a minister from the state as well in the nearer future (sic),” Rahatkar added.
