Itanagar: While the search for the missing AN-32 is on, Air Marshal RD Mathur, AOC-in-C, Eastern Air Command, has announced a cash award of Rs 5 lakh for the person(s) or group, who provide(s) credible information leading to the ill-fated aircraft.

Meanwhile, the IAF is using all its assets and taking help of the Army, Arunachal Pradesh civil authorities and other national agencies to locate the missing aircraft.

The AN-32 aircraft took off from Jorhat in Assam around 12.25 pm on June 3 and was flying to the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi Yomi district when it went missing near Aalo around 1 pm. It was carrying 13 passengers on board.

Immediately thereafter, the IAF deployed all available resources, including Sukhoi Su-30 combat fighter jets and C-130J Hercules special operations aircraft to locate the missing aircraft. Troops on ground too were fanned out to hunt for the missing plane.
