Guwahati: Assamese interior designer Karishma Kakoti was conferred with the ‘Best Emerging Interior Design Professional of the Year’ at the Global Indian Business Excellence Awards 2019 held in London, UK on Thursday.
The 27-year-old native of Guwahati was the youngest awardee at the event which saw a participation of around 200 people from across the world. Kakoti is a native of Rajgarh, Guwahati, and is the founding-owner of KA Design — a leading luxury interior designing firm headquartered in the region.
The event was hosted at the House of Commons by the Asian Voice, a UK-based media house for the British Asian community, and organised by World Business Review Corporation, which recognises and honours organisations and individuals of Indian origin from across the globe.
Speaking with EastMojo, Kakoti expressed her excitement on representing the Northeast for the first time on an international platform.
She said, “People [ in Northeast] have a mindset that designers from outside are better”, and such awards and exposure have added more credibility to her work.
Her firm has a high-end clientele and has completed several luxury projects for residential, commercial and hospitality sectors all over the country.
Apart from this, Kakoti also bagged four national awards in 2018, like the ‘Young Female Entrepreneur of Northeast In Interior Designing’ title at the India Leadership Awards 2018 in Bangalore.
She clinched the award for ‘The Leading Interior Design Firm in Guwahati’ for her firm KA Design at India’s Most Prominent Architect and Design Awards 2018 by Merit Awards and Market Research.
During the National Icon Awards 2018-19, Kakoti was awarded as the ‘Most Innovative and Consultancy Firm in Guwahati’. A graduate of Amity University, Kakoti also received the ‘Byatikram Youth Icon Award’ in August 2018.
