Itanagar: A mass peace rally was conducted in Arunachal Pradesh by the Tirap-Changlang-Longding Baptist Christian Fellowship (TCLBCF) on Friday in condemnation of the brutal killing of Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others in an ambush by unidentified gunmen on May 21.
The peace rally was accompanied by a candlelight vigil and a two-minute silent prayer for the departed souls.
Terming the barbaric killing as an attack on the peace-loving people of district, the TCLBCF also came up with a series of demands in the mass peace rally. The forum has and demanded an immediate CBI inquiry over the gruesome incident and arrest of the culprits.
The grief-stricken forum expressed that the members of TCLBCF stand shoulder-to-shoulder in the promotion of peace and democratic values in the region.
Aboh, along with 10 others was killed by suspected militants in an ambush at the 12 mile area in Tirap district on May 21. The legislator was on his way to Khonsa, the district headquarters of Tirap from Dibrugarh, Assam, on the fateful day when suspected militants opened fire on his convoy (comprising four vehicles). Also among the dead were two police personnel.
