Tura: National People’s Party (NPP) leader Agatha Sangma, who defeated former CM and Congres leader Mukul Sangma in the Tura Lok Sabha constituency of Meghalaya in the recently-held elections, said it’s not just a victory but a great responsibility.
Expressing happiness over her victory in Tura, Agatha Sangma thanked the people of Garo Hills for supporting and giving her another opportunity for better governance.
“As a member of Parliament, I want to represent not only my constituency but the entire Northeast region in Parliament,” said Agatha, won the Tura seat by a massive margin of 63,775 votes against Mukul Sangma.

“We had an opposition candidate who has also been a chief minister of the state and a senior political leader, and therefore it has been quite a fight, a neck-to-neck fight but a fair one,” said Agatha, sister of current Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma.
Taking about the success of NPP in both Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Conrad K Sangma, who is also the party president, thanked the people for reposing their faith on the candidates as well as the party.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a splendid performance in the elections, Sangma said that it has clearly certified about the dynamic leadership quality that the honourable Prime Minister holds to.
