Lok Sabha poll results 2019: 34 counting halls ready in Manipur

Imphal: As the nation is all set to elect the next government in the Centre, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has given final touches to the counting process across the country. In Manipur, the state’s Chief Election Officer (CEO) has prepared 34 counting halls for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 counting day for the two Parliamentary seats on Thursday. Prohibitory orders have been enforced in and around the counting halls for smooth assessment.

According to reports, polling agents of all the candidates have been asked to report to the designated halls before 8 am so that counting can start on time without delay.

Earlier, the CEO’s office had conducted a series of ‘Counting Personnel Training’ sessions across various districts in the state. During the training, the polling officials were trained on the role and responsibilities of the counting personnel.

Meanwhile, a one-day training on pre-counting scanning of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and postal ballots for Outer Parliamentary constituency was also held at the office of the CEO in Imphal.

Dismissing the allegations of tampering the voting machines used in the general elections, the ECI on Tuesday asserted that the EVMs used in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 are absolutely safe in the strongrooms.

This year, as per reports, over 90 crore citizens exercised their franchise in the general elections 2019, the highest in the history of Lok Sabha, to elect the next government.
