Guwahati: The first thing that comes to our mind when we talk about beauty pageants are tall, glamorous women, trendy clothes and twinkling lights, and the works. However, the organisers of fbb Colors Femina Miss India are trying to show a different aspect of the contestants — the states that they represent and the beauty that they are famous for.

Through a series of videos, presented by travel firm Cox & Kings, the organisers are giving each contestant the opportunity to showcase the essence of their homeland. These videos are an attempt to offer a glimpse of what a tourist can expect from a particular state and at the same time show how travelling can be one of the most liberating ways for a woman to empower herself.

Assam girl Jyotishmita Baruah, who is representing the state at the beauty pageant this year, appeals in one of the Miss Getaway Goddess 2019 videos: “I welcome you all to my state, my state with immaculate natural beauty of the wild, peaceful villages and lush green tea gardens. This Northeastern state calls every enthusiastic traveler to get bathed in its scenic charm.”

From the lush green tea gardens to the world-famous Kaziranga National Park and the Kamakhya temple, the video showcases several places of tourist interest in the state.
