Itanagar: Results of the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for Class XII were declared on Thursday. Of the top 10 rank holders among the government higher secondary schools (GHSS), girls secured the first three positions.
Pilli Linggi, a commerce student of GHSS Roing under Lower Dibang Valley district, topped among the students of government schools in the state by scoring 91.8% marks.
Lukyir Taji, an arts student of GHSS Daporijo under Upper Subansiri district, secured the second position with a pass percentage of 91.4%, while Yumsen Taipodia of GHSS Likabali under Lower Siang district secured the third position by scoring 89.4% marks in Arts.
A communique from the directorate of secondary education said that this year a fall in passing percentage of the schools in Arunachal Pradesh could be registered. The pass percentage has fallen to 41.96% from 44.35% last year — a decrease of 2.39%.
A total of 12,424 students had registered for the examination from government schools in the state, out of which only 12,046 appeared.
In all government higher secondary schools throughout the state, Mechuka under West Siang district performed exceptionally well with a total pass percentage of 93.55%, followed by Chowkham under Namsai district with 87.50%, Lumla under Tawang district with 87.50% and Dambuk under Lower Dibang Valley with 85.29%.
Among the schools that did not perform well and the passing percentage is less than 20 are GHSS Longding in Longding with 19.01%, followed by GHSS Jeko in Lohit with 15.63%, GHSS Geku in Upper Siang with 17.50% and the school which performed worst this year is Seijosa government higher secondary school with a passing percentage of 4.95%.
In all, 64.41% of the students from the eight Northeastern states have cleared this year’s AISSCE.
Of 51,322 candidates who appeared for the final examinations from the CBSE’s Guwahati region, 33,055 passed. The pass percentage among the girls was 67.92%, while the boys scored 61.10%.
