Aizawl: Mizoram observed ‘Civil Service Day’ in different parts of the state on Monday. Chief minister Zoramthanga attended the programme at Vanapa hall in Aizawl. He also distributed prizes for ‘Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration’ to winners.

The chief minister was accompanied by assembly speaker Lalrinliana Sailo and deputy speaker Lalrinawma along with other cabinet ministers, MLAs and officials of the Aizawl Municipal Corporation.

The award was divided into two categories- organization category and team category carrying a reward money of Rs 3 lakhs and 2 lakhs respectively accompanied with a certificate.

In ‘Organisation category’, Planning and Programme Implementation Department was awarded the first prize for successfully implementing Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) Scheme and in ‘team category’, Kolsib district deputy commissioner has bagged the first prize for discovering ILP software installed at Vairengte and Bairabi counters.

Speaking on the occasion, Zoramthanga lauded government employees as the backbone of the government. Stating that government cannot run for even a day without government employees he also exhorted the government employees in the state to carry out their duties sincerely.

He also expressed that every human being is being blessed with some unique talents and people who serve their talent best can reach the climax of their potentiality.

Citing that Mizoram has great potential for development, Zoramthanga said all the development assets like favourable climate and rainfall and fertile lands should be effectively exploited for the development and benefit of the people.

“All the development assets should be brought to the access of the people,” he added.

The chief minister also urged the employees that while shoring out a plan they should take into account what development scheme can benefit the people most and how sustainable development can be achieved for the state.

Meanwhile, chief secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, who chaired the event urged the employees to be faithful in their duties and consider their work as part of worship.
