3 minor Rohingya girls, one woman detained in Tripura

All the minor girls are belong to Rohingya community who came entered Bangladesh via Myammar.

Agartala: In a major development, Irani police rescued three minor girls allegedly being sold to human trafficker on Sunday mid night. Police also arrested one woman in this connection who was accompanying to those minor girls.

Talking with EastMojo, Lucky Chauhan, Superintendent of Police, Unakoti district said that after receiving information, Irani police raided the house of one Safik Ali, resident of Yeazikhoura under Kailashahar sub-division. Though the house owner succeeded to flew away, police arrested Hasna Begum along with three minor girls.

“All four of them were produced in the court where they failed to provide any valid documents. Later, they were sent to judicial custody till May 10 -13,” Unakoti SP said.

All the minor girls are belong to Rohingya community who came to Bangladesh via Myammar. Hasna Begum, who allegedly involved in human-trafficking, hails from Chittagong in Bangladesh.

But, as per Hasna Begum, she has been living in Silchar with her husband. Safik is her brother by relation and all those rescued girls too her relatives. Further, she told to media persons that she was taking them to Silchar.

While, the rescued girls were taken to hospital for medical checkup, waiting media persons find out a way to talk to Hasna Begum. It is alleged that Hasna and Safik are indulged in human trafficking and all those minor girls were to sell off to red light areas.

It is worthy to mention that North Tripura district police, led by its SP Bhanupada Chakraborty, arrested five Bangladeshi women at Churaibari on charges of having no documents on April 20 last. All of them were sent to 14 days judicial custody by Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Dharmanagar for their illegal entry into Tripura.
