Aizawl: A photo of a man riding a two-wheeler in Aizawl did the rounds of social media recently. Nothing extraordinary in the picture except that the rider is Lalrinawma, the deputy speaker of Mizoram legislative assembly.
Lalrinawma, who won the Tuikum Assembly seat on a Mizo National Front (MNF) ticket during the elections held in December last year, mostly uses his trusted two-wheeler to commute.

In fact, unlike other states of the country where using fancy cars, flashing red lights or blowing sirens is a way of life, VVIPs in this hill state of NE are a perfect example of humility.
On his first day in office after the assembly elections, Champhai North MLA ZR Thiamsanga was also seen riding pillion on a two-wheeler.
This humility is also visible in other spheres of the politicians’ lives. During Christmas last year, sports and tourism minister Robert Romawia Royte and excise and narcotics minister K Beichhua were seen cooking for a community meal. Really, Mizoram never fails to inspire us.
