Guwahati: With polling underway for the third and last phase of Lok Sabha elections in Assam, long queues were seen outside various polling stations in Gauhati constituency on Tuesday morning. Several voters turned up at the booths as early as 5.30 am.

Gauhati is the largest Lok Sabha constituency in Assam with a total of 22 lakh electorates casting their ballots.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on the two key women candidates in the constituency. While the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is fielding former Guwahati mayor Queen Ojha, the Congress has nominated noted television personality Bobbeeta Sharma. Pitted against them is independent candidate Upamanyu Hazarika, among several others.

Incidentally, there will be two ballot units along with an EVM in every polling station and 12 ideal voting booths in the constituency.

The other three constituencies of Assam that is going to polls on Tuesday — Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Barpeta — are also witnessing similar scenes as voters stand in queues since early morning.
