Jaipur: Assam lad Riyan Parag became the second youngest player to take a wicket in his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) season when he dismissed Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer in Jaipur on Monday.
The 17-year-old all-rounder celebrated the moment with a Bihu dance.
On Saturday, Parag made the state and his team, Rajasthan Royals, proud by powering the team to a five-wicket victory over formidable Mumbai Indians.

This was just his second game for the Royals but proved his worth with an all-round performance against Mumbai Indians. Parag made his IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings on April 11 and impressed with a 1-ball 16.
Rajasthan Royals rode on Parag and captain Steve Smith’s 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket chase down 162 with 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare to keep their campaign alive in IPL this season.
While Smith remained unbeaten at 59, Parag scored 43. He was just 7 runs short of creating history to become the youngest in IPL to get to a half-century.
Besides his cricketing skills, what made his home state proud was the ‘gamusa’ that he used while playing the match in Jaipur on Saturday.
Gamusa is an article of great significance for the people of Assam. Besides daily usage, it also symbolises love and respect and is a representation of the Assamese culture.
