Karimganj: Several policemen, who were on their to Guwahati from Karimganj where they were deployed for election duty, were attacked by some youths in Badarpur on Saturday evening.
According to the police, the incident happened when the vehicle that the policemen were travelling in got stuck in a traffic jam near Badarpurghat. When a couple of them got down to man the traffic, a car overtook them from the right side and allegedly blocked the road.

The youths travelling in the car then attacked the policemen, in which a few of them got injured.
While two of the accused have been arrested, three of them are still at large.
The policemen were deployed in Karimganj to man polling stations during the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state on April 18.
