East Mojo also had a candid conversation with Bollywood actress and showstopper for Blenders Pride Magical Night Sanya Malhotra. Excerpts from the conversation:
EastMojo: Tell us about your association with the Blenders Pride Magical Nights.
Sanya Malhotra: I am here to walk the ramp for Varun Bahl. He is one of my favourite designers and it is like an honour for me to walk the ramp for him. It is a beautiful collection that he has come up with. And with Blenders Pride [Magical Nights], it is a very special year for them. They have come up with this beautiful and new concept of ‘Pride’ which is like the confidence and satisfaction that you get by doing the things that you like. I am really happy to be here because it is my first time in Guwahati and it will be a very special and magical night here.
EM: What does ‘Pride’ mean to you?
SM: Pride for me is the confidence and the satisfaction that I get from my work because this is what I really wanted to do in my life. From the time I was a small child, I wanted to act. And now when I do anything related to acting, it just feels really special to me. I feel really proud and also a sense of gratitude and happiness overwhelms me.
EM: Describe your personal style.
SM: I am very casual and wear whatever I am comfortable in.
EM: According to you, what is fashion?
SM: According to me, fashion is comfort. I am a very moody person when it comes to fashion or dressing up. If I am in a mood, I would like to make up, accessorise, wear heels and go out but then I am a very moody person. I love being in my pajamas at leisure or track pants or anything comfortable that I feel like. And I am very comfortable with it, I am not looking for any kind of validation from anybody. I don’t care of people don’t like my fashion at all. I am comfortable in it and that is what matters.
EM: What do you have to say about the evolving trends of fashion, from the years back to the present?
SM: I think just like history, fashion also repeats itself. The nineties’ fashion is back with high-waist pants and baggy straight-legged jeans that I am obsessed with. Crop tops, off-the-shoulder thingies, they are all back and I am liking the retro fashion.
