Guwahati: The first phase of voting for the 17th Lok Sabha elections has started on Thursday across the country, including Northeast India. Voters have already started queuing to exercise their universal franchise.
While the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) as identity proof for casting their votes, electors can also use a number of other documents as ID proof if they do not have the EPIC. The acceptable documents are:
1. Passport
2. Driving Licence
3. Service ID card (Issued to employees by Central/state govt PSUs/public limited companies)
4. Passbook (issued by bank/ post offices with photos)
5. PAN Card

7. Aadhaar Card
8. Pension document (with photo)
9. Health Insurance smart card (issued under the scheme of ministry of labour)
10. Official identity card (issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs)
