Guwahati: Assam police on Thursday retrieved a stolen car in a record time of 57 minutes after a Hollywood-style car chase in Baihata Charialia under Kamrup (rural) district.
According to a tweet by the state police, two men hired a cab from Shillong, and as they approached Baihata, (roughly 130 km from the Meghalaya capital) they assaulted the driver and ran away with the car.
Immediately, the car owner approached the police for help via Twitter. Subsequently, coordination took place with the office in-charge at Baihata police station and the car was recovered in less than an hour.

The complainant Sumit Bajoria, while lauding the efforts of Assam police on the micro-blogging site, said, “I don’t have words to express my gratitude to them for this.”
The two men have been arrested and remanded to police custody.
