Baksa: A month after a sucide terror attack left at least 40 security personnel dead in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama on February 14, CRPF officials paid a tribute to martyr Maneswar Basumatary in his native village in Tamulpur in Assam’s Baksa district on Thursday.
Apart from CRPF personnel, villagers paid a traditional homage to the slain jawan as per Bathou rituals of the Bodo community.
Basumatary’s wife thanked CRPF for its support. “I thank the entire CRPF unit for its support and care at such difficult times,” she said.
Basumatary’s daughter also expressed her gratitude to the Assam government. “I feel happy on being offered a job by the Assam government. I got this job only because of my late father. I joined office on March 7 and it has been good so far. I would also like to thank the CRPF for support and help,” she added.

“I, on behalf of the entire CRPF family, pay my tribute and respect to Maneswar Basumatary’s family. The entire unit of CRPF stands with the family in this moment of grief. We’ve helped the family of the martyr and will keep helping them in the future as well. I hope the bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country will be forever remembered.
