Gangtok: Terming the political scenario in Sikkim as a vicious cycle run by money, Hamro Sikkim Party president Bina Basnett asserted on bringing a new change in the state with the party's campaign 'Naya Sikkim, Hamro Sikkim'.

Welcoming its potential candidates, selected through recommendation of the public, at its party office in Gangtok on Tuesday, Basnett said, "The current political scenario is a vicious cycle where people are made so dependent on finances. Hence, many party members have left whom we can’t label as leaders or those that belong to the soul of the state. No other party is concerned about either about the state or its future."

Asserting on having a blueprint to the development of the state and its future, the party welcomed three new candidates recommended by the public. "We are getting recommendation from the public and based on these recommendations, we are screening them as potential candidates. Today, we welcomed three

new party members who are social workers and research scholars. We aim to develop the state through research based development through the youth," added Basnett.

Meanwhile, HSP working president Bhaichung Bhutia stressed on the creation of a new leadership through such recommendations from the people. The new members who joined HSP are Niraj Adhikari from Tumin Lingee (south), Indra Kumar Suzi from Central Pendam (East) and Pahalman Kami from Soreng (West). The move from the party comes after senior leader Indra Hang Subba joined SKM.

Party Spokesperson Biraj Adhikari declared that the party will announce its candidates in three phases with the first shcheduled for next week. The party is set to contest in 32 Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat.
