Shillong: Impulse NGO Network is all set to host ‘#VOICEOFTHEEAST’ in Shillong in collaboration with Twitter India on March 16. The initiative will highlight the important issues regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the Northeastern region of India.
#VOICEOFTHEEAST is envisioned as a platform for political and thought leaders to engage in meaningful conversations with the youth. The panel will comprise politicians from all major political parties, civil society members and citizens. Some of the confirmed panelists are Mhon Kikon, MLA and advisor to the government of Nagaland on IT&C , science and technology, and new and renewable energy; Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, Meghalaya; Dr Ranjan Chatterjee, expert member, National Green Tribunal; Miguel Queah, child rights activist and founder of UTSAH, a child rights organisation in Assam; Bidhayak Das, independent consultant for elections, governance and media (communications) in Asia and North Africa; Dr Alana Golmei, founder, North East Support Centre & Helpline; John F Kharshiing, chairman, Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya; and Kit Shangpliang, managing head, OutThere Agency & Member of Summersalt.
The panel discussions will be moderated by Karma S Paljor, editor-in-chief, EastMojo, and co-founder and director, Atvi Infotainment; and Kunal Majumder, India correspondent of Committee to Protect Journalists.
The event will be hosted by Gordon Thabah, RJ, Radio Mirchi. Outreach media Paprtners of the event are TNT and EastMojo.
This is a non-partisan initiative designed to crowdsource important issues for the elections and brings civil society members and citizens closer to their representatives. The event will be broadcasted/ reported on Twitter India’s official handles.
The panel discussion has been categorised into two broad panels:
* Agenda2019, which is a 60-minute discussion revolving around the current issues and policies of Northeast India.
* Youth, Social Media and Elections.
