Aizawl: At least 156 murder cases were registered by Mizoram police in five years since 2014, according to reports of CID (Crime) branch. The reports said that at least 27 murder cases were registered last year against 20 cases in 2017.
According to the CID’s crime report, the highest murder case was registered in 2014 at 45 followed by 36 in following year. In 2016, 26 cases related to murder were registered.
The crime tally over the five years indicated that the number of murder case is decreasing in the state.
The reports said that at least 85 ‘attempt to murder’ cases and 4,350 cases related to ‘theft’ have been registered during the same period from 2014 to 2018.
Twenty-three cases of attempt to murder were registered each in 2014 and 2015, 16 cases in 2016 and 13 cases in 2017. Ten attempt to murder cases were registered in 2018.
The highest number of cases related to ‘theft’ was registered in 2016, followed by 916 cases in 2017. At least 882 theft cases were registered in 2014, 854 cases in 2015 and 734 in 2018, CID reports also said.
