Employment opportunities of 3,500 people will be provided in the Mega Food Park.
Agartala: The Mega Food Park after a long wait of over eight years starts in the state as Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, union minister of state for food processing industries, inaugurates the Mega Food Processing Park in the presence of chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb here in Agartala on Wednesday.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Sadhvi said, “The Mega Food Park was approved in the year 2011 but due to the ill mentality and intention of both the Centre and the previous Left Front government this plant could not come for so long.”
The UPA government could inaugurate only 2 Mega Food Parks whereas the NDA government has opened 13 Mega Food Park across the country between 2014- 2018.
It is because of the efforts from the new BJP-IPFT government towards transforming the State into a Industrial centre that, this Mega Food Park has come up in the state in such short of time, Jyoti added.
The chief minister Deb, lashing at the previous government said, The present government wants to provide employment to the youths of the state and that is why projects like this Mega Food Parks are required to boost not only the economy of the state but strengthened the people of the state financially.
The state government earlier had an revenue collection close to 10% but after the BJP-IPFT government came into power the state has received 25.6% revenue collection this year.
Further praising the PM Narendra Modi, Deb said, the state will be taking more such initiatives under the Public private Partnership model (PPP) and welcome anyone who wants to invest in the state.
The Project is started with a land 61.71 acres of land spending Rs 85 crores with two 500mt capacity cold storage and other food processing centres, providing employment to over 500 as permanent staff and over 3,000 as workers in this Mega Food Plant.The Mega Food Park is also expected to have a turn over more than Rs 450-500 crores every year said, Arjun Sikaria, Vice Chairperson Sikaria Mega Food Park.
A national flag of 103.5 Ft high which is the highest in the state now, was also hosted by the ministers in the premises of the Mega Food Park on Wednesday.
