Guwahati: In an attempt to infuse Northeast’s unique heritage of indigenous crafts with avant-garde style and give it a global exposure the Northeast International Fashion Week (NEIFW) takes over the city on February 13, 14. Designers hailing from different countries such as Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan showcased their unique creation along with top models being flown in to present the creations during the two-day fashion extravaganza.
Various well-known fashion gurus, film and theatre personalities also garnered the event to present Northeast as the latest fashion destination for all designers of the neighboring countries. Prominent faces from country’s fashion industry like Hemant Trevedi, Mona Pali, Abhisekh Dutta and James Fariera showcased their designs along with top names of the fashion industry in Northeast.
The highlight of the event was the models walking the ramp showing the creativity of the designers. However, the main crowd puller was when the kids overtook the ramp and walked gracefully stealing the limelight of the show.
The objective of the event is to create brand awareness among the public and the media associated with the fashion industry of the Northeast. NEIFW always targets the domestic/international buyers with the right trends and promote Northeast handloom and handicrafts.
The event eyes the potential for fashion trade and will give youngsters the opening they need to make an impression in the market. It is a platform to grow up with the established names of the fashion industry from all over the world and upgrade oneself.
