Silchar: Police at Silchar Sadar Police Station in Cachar district had to face a unique situation when school students, especially girls in large numbers thronged the police station to handover an eve-teaser on Monday morning.
Expressing serious concern over the increasing number of eve-teasing incidents in front of Silchar Balika Vidyalaya, some of the school students here said that Monday’s incident was beyond their control.
Eve-teasing incidents in front of the girls’ school are nothing new. These students had to face embarrassment due to the eve-teasers almost on regular basis in front of the school.
However, situation turned ugly, when the eve-teasers started teasing and embarrassing the students who are appearing in the HSLC examination on Monday.
These youths, on Monday, did not even spare the students who were appearing in the ongoing HSLC examination, conducted by the SEBA.
“Today, these youths crossed all their limits. They started teasing and showing bad signs to some of the girl students of the school who were appearing in the HSLC examination. Then other students of the school managed to catch one of the members of the group and gave him a lesson,” a girl student of the school said.
She further informed EastMojo that after apprehending the youth, a large section of students of the area took him to the local police station in a procession and later, handed him over to the local police.
Meanwhile, the parents who witnessed the incident have expressed satisfaction over team effort of the students and urged the district administration to provide adequate security to the students of the school.
