In a one-of-its-kind initiative, two new aerobridges at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport were inaugurated by two special guests -- a differently-abled child and a woman passenger
Guwahati: The Northeast regional office of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is winning the hearts of social media for its unique initiative of inviting a woman passenger and a differently-abled child to inaugurate two new aerobridges at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam, on Tuesday.
The gesture is being dubbed by a Twitter user as the new ‘VIP culture’.
While the differently-abled child was the first passenger to fly from Guwahati via an AirAsia flight, the woman passenger arrived in Guwahati via an Indigo flight.
As per reports, the new aerobridges are expected to reduce congestion and improve aircraft operations at the Guwahati Airport.
Commenting on the unique initiative, a user tweeted: "The new 'VIP culture': Two passengers inaugurated two additional, new aerobridges installed at Guwahati Airport on Jan 1. Good gesture by @AAI_Official.”
With this, the total number of operational aerobridges at the Guwahati Airport has gone up to four.
This is not the first time that the AAI has got passengers to inaugurate new initiatives. On December 24 last year, two new retail outlets were inaugurated by passengers inside the security hold area and departure area of the Guwahati airport.
