A day after two speeding vehicles collide on bridge, seven-year-old boy knocked down by car on Thursday; he is currently undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh
Guwahati: Within just three days after PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Bogibeel Bridge over river Brahmaputra in Assam, the rail-cum-road bridge has already witnessed two accidents, with the second one occurring on Thursday proving to be near fatal.
On Thursday, a seven-year-old boy was knocked down by a car while he was trying to cross over to the other side of the bridge. A video of the heart-wrenching incident has been doing the rounds since Friday morning. However, considering the disturbing content of the video, EastMojo decided not to share it among its viewers.
The boy, who has been identified as Saurabh Moran of Tinsukia district’s Baghjan area, was immediately rushed to the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh, and is said to be undergoing treatment for his injuries.
A day earlier, on Wednesday, two speeding cars coming from opposite directions collided, but the passengers escaped unharmed.
The bridge spanning 4.94 km over the Brahmaputra is said to be the longest rail-cum-road bridge in the country, and has been a major attraction among the general public who have been thronging the area in large numbers. The bridge connects upper Assam with 15 districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
