Health dept to invite members of registered NGOs, clubs and social organisations on December 29 to fix dates for blood donation
Agartala: The Tripura government has decided to launch a mobile phone application which will help people to search for blood in different blood banks of the state during times of medical emergency.
Announcing this, health minister Sudip Roy Barman said that the state government will launch the proposed app in January next year.
Expressing serious concern over the harassment faced by people looking for blood in blood banks, the minister said that the new mobile app will help people to know about the stock of blood available in each and every blood bank of the state.
The minister was addressing a meeting during a blood donation camp organised by Holy Cross School Alumni Association in Agartala.
“All the 11 government blood banks in the state will be connected with the new mobile application. One will easily know in which blood blank the required blood is available for the patient,” the minister added.
The state health department has also decided to invite the members of all registered NGOs, clubs and social organisations on December 29, where a date will be fixed for people to donate blood. In a year, three such dates will be fixed with an interval of four months each.
“This will help the government to maintain a calendar for blood donors and amount of blood donated or collected in the state. With this system, people will get to know on which dates they can donate blood area wise,” the minister added.
